Meet the Chairs

Introducing IEPA 11 new conference conveners:

Matcheri S. Keshavan, Chair and
Kristen A. Woodberry, Co-chair
I would like to welcome Keshavan and Kristen for taking over the reins of the IEPA 11 Meeting: Prevention & Early Intervention: Broadening the Scope. Both of our esteemed chairs have worked hand-in-hand with the conference’s original convenor, Larry Seidman, on many projects over the years. They are dedicated to building on the firm foundations he laid for IEPA 11 and bringing his vision to fruition at the Westin Copley Place in Boston, October 2018.

Dr. Woodberry is a clinical social worker and licensed clinical psychologist in the Commonwealth Research Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, director of the Program for Psychosocial Protective Mechanisms, and assistant professor of psychology at Harvard Medical School. She owes her psychology research career to Larry J. Seidman, who mentored her for 15 years, from the beginning of her dissertation through the first 3 years of an NIH Career Development grant. With his wisdom and kindness ever in mind, she is honored to step in as co-convener for IEPA 2018 in Boston. She is committed to continuing Larry’s vision of broadening the scope of early intervention beyond psychosis and to enhancing the educational interaction of consumers, family members, clinicians, educators, and scientists. Dr. Woodberry’s 25 year career working with adolescents and young adults at risk for or in the early stages of major mental illness has focused on understanding the early trajectories of major mental illnesses, diathesis-stress interactions, and testing interventions to enhance psychosocial protective mechanisms. Having attended her first IEPA conference in New York in 2000, she is thrilled to welcome this stellar group of innovators to Boston.
